Video Editing

When I opened the FlexClip video maker website. I was handed over the dashboard which comes with the option of creating a video from the beginning or readymade templates.

When you click on “Create a Video” option gives you two modes of options - Storyboard and Timeline mode. The Storyboard is the default mode which allows users to add effects and trim clips on the instinctive editor very easily. 

The “Timeline mode” is fully live now. With this users can create video effects that are more personalized and complex.

Since I started creating a video by using templates, I was redirected to the workspace with the storyboard, where line where video editing can be done. FlexClip has a large media library that provides a wide range of options in photos, videos, and music.

If you don’t want to use the media template, then you can upload your own media file from your computer in the storyboard via the media option (check the screenshot below)

The editing process in FlexClip is very simple and effortless. Post-production elements like text, transition, shapes, and special effects can be added with the help of an easy drag-and-drop structure.

You can do video editing with single-click controls. Modifying the filters, orientation, and speed is like a breeze. The two things I found particularly impressive were its flashforward and slow-motion controls.

After editing a video I simply clicked the export button and the video was rendered within minutes. Boom now you are ready to upload videos on your social media or on your youtube channel.

Trimming

The video trimming tool in Flexclip was trouble-free to use. It’s located in the lower right corner of the video pane. I was able to trim the vide with out any hassle by just clicking on trim.

There are also a few additional trimming features that come with the software. These include smash-cut, cutaway, axial cut, cross-cut and parallel cut.

Video Conversion

Thanks to FlexClip, I was able to go beyond simple file format conversion. This amazing software offers a range of features, allowing me to resize, adjust resolution, and enhance both videos and photos. When dealing with content that doesn't fit perfectly on a screen, FlexClip offers a variety of aspect ratios to choose from, including 16:9, 1:1, 9:16, 4:5, and 21:9. Additionally, FlexClip provides the option to customize video size, ensuring a perfect fit for tablets, smartphones, or computer screens. Merging

I found it incredibly easy to merge videos using FlexClip. With a simple one-click mechanism, I could effortlessly upload various images and videos, and they were seamlessly arranged on the storyboard. 

What impressed me the most was the ability to effortlessly change the sequence of these files. To further enhance the overall look and feel of the video, FlexClip offers a wide range of transitions (as shown in the screenshot below). By adding these transitions after each scene, make video instantly gained a more professional and polished appearance.

Adding Text

FlexClip offers a valuable Text tool as one of its key features. Within this video editing software, you'll find a range of preset text options categorized as basic and dynamic. With just a simple click, these presets can be easily incorporated into your videos, enhancing their visual appeal effortlessly.

I personally found the presets to have their own unique style, which offers some customization options. However, I faced limitations when attempting to make significant alterations. Using the text editing toolbar (as shown in the screenshot below), I made modifications such as adjusting the font, font size, font style (italic or bold), color, alignment, and even the content itself.

I have made slight modifications to the presets to suit my preferences. Although customization options are available, I didn't make any significant alterations. Using the text editing toolbar, I adjusted the font, font size, font style (italic, bold), color, alignment, and content. Check out the screenshot below to see the changes I made.

You can easily modify the text in the preset by double-clicking on it.

Elements, Overlay, and Background

FlexClip offers additional dynamic features such as backgrounds, overlays, and elements, which greatly enhanced the creativity of my video. Moreover, the convenient preview function allowed me to test different overlays by hovering my cursor over them before applying them to my video. I explored the Elements tool, the second feature on the list, located above the Overlay tool. I found it quite captivating as it allowed me to incorporate captivating elements into my video. These elements encompassed an array of illustrations, shapes, arrows, and buttons that represent prominent social media platforms. I personally opted to include the google play button, which added a delightful embellishment to my video. It truly enhanced the overall visual appeal.

Free content library

One aspect of FlexClip that I found particularly impressive was its extensive content library, which encompasses a wide variety of videos, images, and music. This feature is especially beneficial for users who may not have their own footage readily available. 

I personally appreciated the ability to search for music based on genres and moods, as it allowed me to find the perfect soundtrack for my video. The music catalog is a valuable resource for YouTube content creators, and I was pleased to see that it is regularly updated with popular music selections.

Using the screen recorder tool, I effortlessly captured my screen activity, seamlessly integrating it as video content into the storyboard.

What's more, FlexClip offers the option to include voice-overs. By simply clicking on the small record button (as shown in the screenshot below) at the bottom of the video pane, I was able to easily add my voice to enhance the overall video experience.

Motion Graphics

I was thoroughly impressed by the extensive collection of special effects available in FlexClip. It offers a diverse range of options to create stunning motion graphics effortlessly. With just a simple click, I was able to incorporate captivating video choreography into my project.

What stood out to me even more were the numerous controls and presets at my disposal. They allowed me to seamlessly integrate dynamic shapes, icons, and text elements into my videos. It made the entire process of adding movement to my content a breeze.

Additionally, the transition options in FlexClip are exceptional, particularly when it comes to crafting engaging presentations and slideshows. The software offers a wide array of transitions, enabling me to create smooth and professional-looking visual sequences.

FlexClip: Exploring the Limitations

When I was working on the sample project, I faced a few issues with some of the features in FlexClip. Here are my observations:

Text: The text customization options in FlexClip are straightforward and effective. You can easily modify the size, font, alignment, and colors. However, I found that it has a limitation in terms of adding multiple text boxes within the same scene. Whenever I selected a new text option, it would replace the existing one. To work around this, I had to split the scene and add a new text box.

Video Length: The maximum duration for video clips in FlexClip is restricted to 1 minute. If you want to create a longer clip, you have to reduce the size or consider alternative software. To utilize the full length, I added the video clip as a separate storyboard and trimmed it down to a minute. Unfortunately, there is no way to mark the trimmed parts in the previous clip. It's worth noting that FlexClip is designed primarily for shorter clips.

Music: FlexClip provides a decent music library with some sound effects options. However, it has a limitation as you can only select one piece of music for the entire video. There is no multi-track option to layer different music tracks or add sound effects over the existing music. I encountered this limitation when I wanted to incorporate a sound effect alongside the music. Clicking on another track would replace the existing soundtrack.

No Undo Button: One inconvenience I faced while using FlexClip is the absence of an undo button. During the sample project, I accidentally deleted an element and had to recreate it from scratch since there was no way to undo the action.

Overall, FlexClip has its pros and cons. While it offers simple and effective text customization, a restricted video clip length, limited music selection, and the absence of an undo button can be drawbacks. Consider these aspects when deciding whether FlexClip meets your specific project requirements.

Conclusion
